Turning OEM vehicle data into harmonised fleet intelligence
The software running on every Squarell IVMS device is called the Device Configuration File (DCF).
DCF – The software engine inside every Squarell IVMS

The DCF consists of three functional layers:
Input Layer
The input layer receives and decodes vehicle messages from OEM-specific vehicle networks. Brand-specific protocols are translated into a common internal format, creating a consistent foundation for further processing.

Processing Layer
The processing layer contains the Squarell Parameter Groups.
Parameter Groups are remotely managed through Squarell ExpertView. When a subscription is activated or modified, ExpertView securely distributes an updated license key to the device. If the license expires or becomes invalid, the associated Parameter Group is automatically deactivated.
Output Layer
The output layer determines when and where Parameter Group messages are transmitted.
Using ExpertView, users can configure:
- Active Parameter Groups
- Transmission conditions
- Output destinations (Bluetooth, Serial, Modem, etc.)
- Message buffering (REMOTE+)
Note 1:
The output destination is a serial port, which means that the information is transmitted sequentially, one character at a time. Each parameter is separated from the next by a comma. This format is known as Comma-Separated Values (CSV).
Note 2:
In the past, output was also transmitted via a CAN port. However, because each parameter must be packaged, described, and subsequently unpacked by the user according to its specification, Squarell IVMS devices no longer introduce new parameters for CAN output.
This architecture allows the same IVMS hardware to support different applications simply by activating the required Parameter Groups.
