ExpertView

The intelligence behind every IVMS

Delivering an IVMS device is only the beginning.

ExpertView is Squarell’s central Device Management environment. It connects every Squarell device to the information, software, configuration and support required throughout its operational lifetime.

From production and installation to remote configuration, monitoring and software updates, ExpertView ensures that every device remains identifiable, manageable and supportable.

One device. One complete record.

Every Squarell product is registered in ExpertView under its unique serial number.

Depending on the product and application, the device record may include:

  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
  • Vehicle Registration Number (VRN)
  • Customer organisation or TSP
  • Fleet Owner or end user
  • Device status
  • Firmware version
  • Active Device Configuration File
  • Installation date
  • Modem IMEI
  • SIM ICCID
  • Device and service history

Where supported, information such as VIN and VRN can be added automatically after installation.

Remote software and configuration management

Vehicle technology and customer requirements continue to change after installation.

ExpertView allows authorised updates and configuration changes to be prepared centrally and applied remotely to supported devices.

This includes:

  • Firmware updates
  • DCF updates
  • Parameter Group activation
  • Application activation
  • Output configuration
  • Communication settings
  • Threshold and calculation-factor changes

REMOTE+ and ENVIRON+ devices periodically contact ExpertView to check whether approved updates or configuration changes are available.

Parameter Group management

Parameter Groups and Squarell applications operate as independent software modules inside the DCF.

Through ExpertView, subscription-based Parameter Groups can be activated or deactivated using the appropriate profile key.

Each Parameter Group can also be configured for its specific task. Depending on the application, messages may be transmitted:

  • At a fixed interval
  • Only while the engine is running
  • Only while the vehicle is moving
  • After a defined event
  • When a configurable threshold is exceeded

The output destination can also be selected, such as RS232, Bluetooth, modem or an SFD port.

Device monitoring and diagnostics

Vehicle data is not always guaranteed.

An ECU software update, disconnected sensor, altered vehicle configuration or communication issue may affect the information available from the vehicle.

ExpertView supports remote investigation by receiving diagnostic information generated by the IVMS. This helps Squarell engineers determine whether the device, vehicle connection, DCF or source data requires attention.

The objective is not only to know whether a device is online, but whether it is still producing the expected Vehicle Intelligence.

Secure communication through the EV Service API

When an IVMS communicates through the server of a Telematics Service Provider, the EV Service API enables specially marked Device Management messages to pass between ExpertView and the device.

These management messages are encoded and separated from the customer’s normal fleet data.

This allows Squarell to support and configure devices installed anywhere in the world without taking control of the customer’s operational application.

ExpertView REST API

TSP platforms can use the ExpertView REST API to retrieve the device and configuration information made available to their organisation.

This enables controlled integration of ExpertView information into the customer’s own systems.

Modem preparation

The required modem configuration is stored per customer organisation.

Before a REMOTE+ or ENVIRON+ is shipped, the modem can be prepared with the agreed communication settings so the device can connect as soon as it is powered.

Production traceability

ExpertView begins following a product before it reaches the customer.

A unique serial number is assigned at the start of the Squarell production process. Manufacturing steps, software information and computer-controlled test results are then stored in a protected part of the product record.

This creates traceability from production through deployment and long-term support.

Squarell Digital Identity

Every Squarell device, interface and cable carries a unique serial number and QR code.

Scanning the QR code opens the digital product card, including the product image and relevant connection information.

Future access for authorised ExpertView users is planned to provide additional current information about their own registered products and devices.

DDD file management

Squarell is preparing ExpertView to support the storage and retrieval of DDD tachograph files by their authorised owner.

This functionality is under development and is not yet part of the current ExpertView service.

Complete lifecycle control

ExpertView brings together:

  • Product registration
  • Device configuration
  • Firmware and DCF management
  • Parameter Group subscriptions
  • Remote monitoring
  • Technical support
  • Production traceability
  • Digital product identity

The result is a managed Vehicle Intelligence ecosystem in which every Squarell device can continue to develop together with the fleet it supports.

Every Squarell IVMS remains identifiable, configurable and supportable throughout its operational lifetime.
