Special Function Devices (SFD)

A Special Function Device can be connected to a SFD port of a Squarell In Vehicle Monitoring System (IVMS) device. The DAP improves driving behaviour, reduces costs and CO₂ emissions with real-time feedback. The POM increases safety and visibility through smart control of cameras, sensors, and lighting.

Drive smarter, safer and more efficient with the DAP

The Driver Awareness Panel (DAP) is a powerful, easy-to-use solution designed to transform driving behaviour and deliver immediate impact on fleet performance. By increasing driver awareness in real time, the DAP helps reduce fuel consumption, improve road safety, and lower CO₂ emissions—while simultaneously minimizing vehicle wear and tear.

Small behavioural changes can lead to big results. Our customers typically achieve fuel savings between 5% and 17%, along with noticeable reductions in maintenance costs such as brake and tyre wear. This makes the DAP not just a safety tool, but a smart investment in operational efficiency.

Real-time driving feedback and performance analysis

The DAP actively engages drivers through intuitive, real-time feedback, encouraging safer and more economical driving habits without being intrusive. Its intelligent algorithms are designed to maintain driver focus over time, providing continuous support for safer journeys.

Compact and practical, the DAP is the size of a credit card and can be easily installed on any dashboard—making it a seamless addition to any vehicle.

With six clear indicators, the user-friendly interface provides instant visual and audible feedback, helping drivers correct inconsistencies on the spot and continuously improve their performance.

The DAP makes a trip analysis over the last 30 trips (ignition on – ignition off). At contact on (without ignition on) the DAP will give a report for each parameter.

Frequently asked questions

The Driver Awareness Panel (DAP) is a compact and user-friendly solution that analyzes and improves driving behavior in real time. It provides instant feedback to help drivers operate more safely, efficiently, and economically.

The DAP helps reduce fuel consumption (typically between 5% and 17%), improves road safety, and decreases vehicle wear and tear, such as brakes and tires. It also contributes to lower CO₂ emissions and reduced operational costs.

The DAP uses six clear indicators and provides both visual and audible feedback during driving. This allows drivers to immediately adjust their behavior without being distracted.

Yes, the DAP can be used as a standalone solution or integrated with existing telematics systems. With the SWDAP data kit, you can also develop a custom software solution and connect it to onboard displays or mobile devices.

The Driver Assistance Program uses visual LED indicators to help drivers improve efficiency, safety, and driving performance through real-time feedback.

Power Output Module

Squarell Power Output Module (POM) for intelligent control of vehicle cameras, sensors, and lighting in connected fleet applications.

Smarter fleet safety and full visibility

Enhance vehicle safety and gain full operational visibility with an intelligent, integrated solution. Cameras in trucks not only improve on-road safety, but also provide fleet managers with valuable insights into overall fleet performance. By combining dash cam video with fleet management software, driver behaviors such as hard braking, sharp cornering, rapid acceleration, and speeding become clearly visible

Sensors, cameras and lights can be installed and controlled by the Power Output Module (POM). Switches, ultrasonic sensors and messages on the vehicle’s communication networks are used to turn these lights and cameras on or off (see description opposite). The POM can be connected to 4 different devices from Squarell, the SOLID+, REMOTE+, BE, and Trailer Box. The POM’s MPU is powered by these devices.

Seamless integration and reliable control

The 2 inputs and 6 outputs of the POM are electrically separated from the MPU and devices. The supply voltage of the inputs and outputs of the POM is between 11 and 30 Vdc and have their own ground. This voltage comes out of an output port when activated. The inputs can be activated by connecting a supply voltage from, for example, a switch or sensor.

Frequently asked questions

Cameras improve on-road safety by providing real-time visibility and recording driving events. They also offer fleet managers valuable insights into driver behavior—such as harsh braking or speeding—enabling data-driven decisions that enhance overall fleet performance and safety.

The POM automatically controls connected systems like cameras, sensors, and lighting based on inputs from switches, ultrasonic sensors, or vehicle network signals. This ensures that visibility and awareness features are activated exactly when needed, improving both safety and efficiency.

Yes, the POM is designed for seamless integration with Squarell solutions such as SOLID, REMOTE, BE, and Trailer Box. It can also be easily integrated into existing vehicle systems through standard inputs like switches and sensors.

The POM features electrically isolated inputs and outputs for enhanced reliability and safety. With a wide operating voltage range of 11 to 30 Vdc and independent output ports, it supports flexible installation and ensures stable performance across a variety of vehicles.
