Driver Histograms (DHIS)
Understand how your drivers really drive
The Driver Histograms Parameter Group continuously analyses driving behavior throughout every journey.
Rather than transmitting every acceleration, braking event or throttle movement individually, the Squarell IVMS builds statistical driving profiles that reveal how the driver actually operates the vehicle.
The resulting histograms provide an objective overview of driving style and support driver coaching, fuel reduction and safer driving behavior.
Statistics reveal driving behavior that individual events never can.

How does it work?
During every configurable reporting period (typically 10 minutes), the IVMS measures how long important vehicle parameters remain within predefined operating ranges.
Instead of storing thousands of individual measurements, Squarell creates compact histogram messages containing:
- Time spent in each operating range
- Fuel consumed in each operating range
- Distance travelled in each operating range
After transmission the counters are automatically reset and a new measurement cycle begins.

Key Parameters
Parameters in Set
Acceleration in 11 ranges from 0.10 m/s^2 . . . 3.51+ m/s^2
Brake in 11 ranges from 0.10 m/s^2 . . . 3.51+ m/s^2
Acceleration Pedal in 5 ranges from 0% . . . 100%
Retarder Torque in 5 ranges from 0% . . . 100%
The remote-FMS Parameter Group generates 3 messages:
$DHIS-Time1: Set with seconds counted during each range
$DHIS-Fuel1: Set with mLiters counted during each range
$DHIS-Distance1: Set with meters counted during each range
Normally all the messages will be send every 10 minutes, after which the counters are reset.
The complete Parameter Group and parameter definitions are available to Squarell partners.
Business Value
The Driver Histograms Parameter Group transforms continuous driver inputs into meaningful behavioral statistics.
Fleet managers receive objective distributions of acceleration, braking, throttle position and retarder usage instead of isolated driving events.
This enables accurate comparison between drivers, supports coaching programs and helps reduce fuel consumption, component wear and unsafe driving behavior.
Why Squarell?
Traditional telematics systems often report only isolated driver events.
Squarell continuously analyses driving behavior inside the IVMS and converts thousands of individual measurements into compact statistical driving profiles.
The result is a far more complete understanding of driver behavior while dramatically reducing communication bandwidth.
