Driver Totals (DRT)
Measuring driving performance one trip at a time
The Driver Totals Parameter Group records how often important driving events occur during vehicle operation.
Rather than simply collecting raw vehicle data, the Squarell IVMS continuously compares key driving parameters with configurable performance thresholds. Every time a threshold is exceeded, the corresponding counter is updated.
This creates an objective summary of driving behavior that can be used for driver coaching, fleet benchmarking and long-term performance analysis.

Configurable Thresholds
One of the unique features of the Driver Totals Parameter Group is that the threshold values are configurable.
Different threshold profiles can be used for:
Heavy Trucks
Vans
Passenger Cars
Threshold values can also be updated remotely through the Squarell IVMS, allowing the same Parameter Group to be optimised for different vehicle types and operational environments.
| Pos. | Parameter Name | Default Trucks | Default VAN’s & Cars | Unit | Rannge |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Threshold Harsh Brake Events | 1.5 | 1.5 | m/s2 | 0-10 |
| 2 | Threshold Excessive idle Duration | 60 | 60 | s | 0-65000 |
| 3 | Threshold Excessive Engine Torque | 90 | 90 | % | 0-100 |
| 4 | Threshold Over speed Duration | 90 | 100 | km/h | 0-250 |
| 5 | Threshold Excessive Engine RPM | 1700 | 2600 | RPM | 0-8013 |
| 6 | Threshold Harsh Acceleration Duration | 1.5 | 1.5 | m/s2 | 0-10 |
Business Value
The Driver Totals Parameter Group transforms thousands of individual vehicle measurements into a compact set of operational performance indicators.
Instead of analyzing every acceleration, braking event or engine speed individually, fleet managers receive objective counters that immediately reveal driving patterns requiring attention.
These indicators simplify driver coaching, support fleet benchmarking and help reduce fuel consumption, vehicle wear and maintenance costs while encouraging safer driving behavior.
Why Squarell?
Many telematics systems simply record vehicle events.
Squarell goes one step further.
The Driver Totals Parameter Group applies intelligent onboard evaluation using configurable thresholds before the information leaves the vehicle. Instead of transmitting thousands of raw measurements, the IVMS generates meaningful performance indicators that are immediately suitable for driver coaching and fleet analysis.
