Identity (VID)

Every vehicle introduces itself.

The Identity Parameter Group is transmitted when the vehicle becomes operational and introduces the vehicle to the telematics platform.

Besides providing basic vehicle identification such as the VIN and Vehicle Registration Number (VRN), the Parameter Group also reports the vehicle’s date, time and basic propulsion information.

This information enables telematics applications and Squarell ExpertView to immediately recognize the vehicle, verify the system configuration and automatically select the correct vehicle-specific DCF software.

Business Value

The Identity Parameter Group provides the foundation for every connected vehicle.

It enables telematics platforms to automatically identify vehicles, verify configuration settings and maintain accurate fleet administration.

Within the Squarell ecosystem the Identity Parameter Group is also used by ExpertView to recognize vehicle type, determine whether the vehicle is combustion or electric powered and automatically assign the correct OEM-specific DCF software.

This minimizes installation effort while ensuring every IVMS device is configured for maximum vehicle data availability.

Why Squarell?

Unlike conventional telematics devices that simply transmit identification data, Squarell integrates the Identity Parameter Group with the ExpertView Device Management Platform.

When the first Identity message is received, ExpertView automatically links the IVMS serial number with the vehicle identity, verifies configuration settings and can deploy the correct OEM-specific DCF software.

This creates a fully managed vehicle intelligence platform rather than a stand-alone telematics device.
