What is the importance of Squarell’s devices for Prometheus?

‘About 80-90%.’ says Megan. ‘Squarell is very good at extracting the CANbus data we need while Prometheus visualises this data effectively. CANbus data provides input for a large part of our functionalities and is therefore very important, also with a view to data-driven working.’

What are customers’ reactions to the REMOTE?

‘The feedback has been positive,’ says Megan. ‘The solution is cost-efficient because only the REMOTE together with the E-Portal is needed. Drivers do not have to perform any additional operations, which they like. It is a ‘high impact, low effort’ solution. For other functionalities such as time recording, however, a combination with an on-board computer is needed. The big advantage of the REMOTE is that the system works independently. This fits well with the demand for simplicity in vehicle operations. Initially, customers only wanted tachograph data, then GPS, and now the need is expanding. Other suppliers offer limited solutions but Squarell always goes the extra mile. As a result, Prometheus’ flexible software and Squarell are a perfect match.’

A practical example

‘For one of our customers, within weeks we developed a solution that, in combination with the Squarell SOLID and the Prometheus on-board computer, allows us to measure the axle load of LHVs (Longer and Heavier Trucks),’ Cynthia says. ‘This was previously not possible on older vehicles but is mandatory in the Netherlands and Belgium. This development was made possible by the excellent cooperation between Prometheus and Squarell’s engineers.’

The future of telematics and Squarell

‘Data is the new gold,’ argues Megan. ‘The demand for real-time data continues to grow, even though data is not yet being used to its full potential everywhere within this sector. Prometheus can show CO2 emissions based on key figures, something that is increasingly being driven by laws and regulations. Data plays a big role in this, helping companies to be future-proof. What do we expect from Squarell in the future? For our customers, a uniform solution is a requirement, so also a good solution for electric vehicles. The demand for EVs is increasing, but the data provided by manufacturers themselves is often limited. Squarell is the spider in the web in this and by listening carefully to the customer they will be able to provide the requested vehicle data.’
