Efficiency and Cost Savings in Transportation: Q8 Optimizes Fuel Tracking with Squarell Technology
Challenge
Q8, one of the largest energy players in Benelux, needed a reliable and efficient way to register transportation cost onto their custom-developed On Truck Computer system (tablets) in order to allow transport companies to easily, quickly and accurately invoice fuel transportation cost. The tool for instance allows drivers to instantly request fuel levels at the gas stations without even leaving the truck.
Solution
To do so Q8 implemented automatic and real-time registration of odometer and ignition status onto the tablets using Squarell SOLID devices (not intrusively connected to the vehicle’s CANbus).

Real-time tracking and monitoring: The application allows Q8 to real-time monitor truck movement and mileage, loadings and deliveries (actions and volumes) of all its drivers, ensuring efficient route optimization and delivery scheduling.
Reduced administrative costs: The On-Truck Computer system considerably reduces time-consuming manual data entry, the risk of data entry errors. Allows automatic invoicing and stock reconciliation in SAP.
Offline functionality: The system is able to fully work in stand-alone modus (so even if disconnected from the internet).
Non-intrusive CANbus connection: Installing and connecting the Squarell device to the CANbus using the CancliQ is easy, fast and non-intrusive.
Overall, Q8’s implementation of the Squarell SOLID and FLEX devices has resulted in improved efficiency, reduced costs, and enhanced data accuracy.
